Venk has had a long and varied career that includes sales, marketing, and general management, and he has a proven track record of leading companies through rapid growth. He has worked as a senior marketing executive in large technology companies in Silicon Valley and as CEO in a couple of start ups. He has been involved with numerous start ups as an executive, investor, board member, or advisor.
As President of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE), he presides over one of the most powerful networks focused on technology start ups in Silicon Valley. TiE, a 21 year old non-profit, exists to promote wealth creation through entrepreneurship, and its membership includes the entire ecosystem of entrepreneurship - VCs, successful entrepreneurs, senior executives in public companies and CIOs as well as budding entrepreneurs. The largest number of members are successful entrepreneurs such as the founder of Brocade and hundreds of others. With a mailing list of 40,000+ technology professionals, TiE conducts 50+ events during the year to inspire, educate, mentor and fund aspiring entrepreneurs.
Venk is also the founding chair and active member of TiE Angels, which is one of the most active angel investor groups in the Valley with 140 members and 21 investments in the last three years, mostly in the B2B space.
Venk has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and BSEE from NIT in India.
